Florida Tech’s Strong Start Propels Panthers To Victory Over Barry 5-2

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech defeated  Barry University 5-2 in a non-conference game on Monday.

The Panthers are now tied all time with the Bucs with 21 wins and 21 losses.

In the first inning, the Panthers set the tone with freshman pitcher on the mound, Justin Lorenz, who recorded two strikeouts. Lorenz pitched six innings allowing four hits and only one run on the victory. Lorenz is now 3-1 on the season with this performance.

Ryan Allain came in the ninth inning for another save situation in which he was able to earned his 10th save of the season. With this performance he now moves to 3rd All-Time in the single season save category and leads the Sunshine State Conference.

In the bottom of the first, the Panthers were able to take a four run lead over Barry. Florida Tech with one out and the bases loaded had Brett Parrish step up to the plate. Parrish took the challenge as he recorded a bases clearing triple to give the Panthers a three run lead. Parrish now has 22 RBI’s on the season and improves his batting average to .336.

The next batter was Raul Quintero who single to left field scoring Parrish making it 4-0 Panthers. Quintero now improves his batting average to .327 on the season.

The Panthers will face Palm Beach Atlantic next on Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m.
