Wave 3 of Transformers: The Card Game is on the way and it’s packed with all the goodness people expect from a fan favorite. The buzz surrounding it rivals that of a video game launch but without the need to buy a game console to have fun.

The anticipated card game is headed by Transformers and will introduce new card types.

Based from Hasbro’s line of Transformers Siege: War for Cybertron, it is set for a U.S. release on June 28 and will introduce Battle Master and Micro Master, two new card types.

Unlike the cards of Transformers: TCG from Metroplex, the cards for the new Battle and Micro Master are smaller at just 88mm tall by 63mm wide instead of the massive 200-mm tall card.

According to Transformers: TCG Brand Manager Drew Nolosco, each pack of the War for Cybertron: Siege “will have two character cards in it: one large character and one small character.” It will also feature some characters that were not part of the original Cybertronian incarnations.

Transformers: The Card Game that came out last October boasts of an exciting ruleset and a fast pace. Its ruleset and battle systems was borne when one of the original goals for Wizards’  Transformers: TCG was realized.

“We wanted to make sure we created an inter-generational experience,” said Nolosco.

The team worked hard to create and test a card game system that was “grokable by a youngster” via Hasbro and still appeal to adult fans of Transformers because of the satisfaction the interaction and deck building process bring.

Nolosco further explained, “Transformers is 35 years old this year. The age of youngsters being raised by the original generation of Transformers fans is such that they’re at the point where parents are teaching them games, bringing them up as geeks and gamers.”
