NWS: Line of Strong to Severe Storms Expected Across Space Coast On Friday

A line of strong to severe storms will move across much of east central Florida on Friday during the afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service in Melbourne said the main threat is from damaging winds, but hail and an isolated tornado are also possible.

BREVARD COUNTY • NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE, MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A line of strong to severe storms will move across much of east central Florida on Friday during the afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne said the main threat is from damaging winds, but hail and an isolated tornado are also possible.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of showers before 11 pm, then a slight chance of showers after 5 am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Friday: A chance of showers before 11 am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 am and 3 pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 pm.
Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. High near 89. Windy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 pm, then showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 8 pm and 2 am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Low around 56.
Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 75. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon.
Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 56. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.
