BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Tonight, I am very proud to announce that earlier this week, our agency received an emergency 911 call from Mr. Blaine Sullivan who advised that he was driving in the area of I-95 and Wickham Road in Viera with his wife, Devon, who was in labor.

Mr. Sullivan advised that his wife had a high-risk pregnancy and that he was pulling into the Circle K Convenience Store parking lot and needed assistance.

Deputy Robert Hopkins and Deputy Johnny Narvaez arrived on scene within minutes and immediately began assisting the mother-to be.

As their assessment of the situation progressed it became increasingly clear that the baby was not going to wait for paramedics to arrive, so preparations were made for the delivery.

Brevard County Fire Rescue arrived immediately after the baby was delivered and transported Devon and her son to the hospital for proper medical care.

Earlier this evening, the parents and their newborn son Blaine wanted to meet Deputy Narvaez at their home in Cocoa.

Mother, Dad and Blaine are all doing fine and the family was extremely appreciative that our two Deputies were there to help in their time of need.

This call for assistance is yet another perfect example that in our profession, there is no such thing as a routine day or shift.

Please join me in congratulating the Sullivan family for their new addition and in thanking Deputy Hopkins and Deputy Narvaez for their quick actions and efforts to bring one of our newest citizens into our great county safe and sound!
