Florida Tech Golf Advances to NCAA National Championship, First Time in Program History

CLEVELAND, TENNESSEE – The Florida Tech women’s golf team has advanced to the NCAA National Championship after finishing fourth overall at the NCAA South Regional at Cleveland Country Club.

This marks the first time in program history that the Panthers will move on to the national championship tournament as a team. In the past, only individual players performed well enough at the regional to earn a spot.

No. 5 Florida Tech posted a team score of 899 (294-306-299) to finish at +35 over the three rounds at Cleveland CC. The Crimson & Gray edged out SSC rivals No. 4 Nova Southeastern (+37) and No. 17 Saint Leo (+42) to clinch their trip to the national championship.

No. 8 Lynn, the 2019 SSC Champions, won the NCAA Regional title with a score of +20. No. 11 Limestone (+26) took second while No. 1 Barry (+28) claimed third.

Lynn’s Helen Kreuzer won the tournament’s individual championship at -2.

Lucy Eaton paced the Panthers in a tie for seventh place at +5 with a combined score of 221 (68-78-75). The senior has now finished in the Top-7 of the standings in six straight tournaments.

Paola Ortiz tallied a 75 (+3) on Wednesday to end in 24th at +10 with a three-round total of 226 (77-74-75).

Noelle Beijer (+11) recorded the best round of the day for Tech, firing in an even-par 72 to close out in 25th at 227 (75-80-72).

Megan Dennis (+12) shot an 80 during the final round and finished in a tie for 26th at 228 (74-74-80).

Lauren Watson rounded out the team in a tie for 57th at +24 with a score of 240 (81-82-77).

The NCAA National Championship will take place May 15-18 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
