PALM BEACH GARDEN, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech women’s golf team is through the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championships, and the Panthers currently sit in 10th after 18 holes at PGA National Resort & Spa.

The Crimson & Gray battled PGA’s Champion Course (par-73; 6,081-yard) and the heat all morning long and finished with a team score of 315 (+23).

Cal State San Marcos is the leader after round one at +7, while Barry is second overall at +12. SW Oklahoma State (+13), Indianapolis (+14), and Limestone (+14) round out the top-4 in the standings.

Noelle Beijer paced Tech with an opening round of 73 (E) to put her in a tie for sixth. Only a double-bogey on hole 2 denied the junior from sitting at -2 at the end of Tuesday’s action.

Lucy Eaton ended at +4 and in a tie for 28th. Paola Ortiz (+9) is tied for 70th after her first trip around the course Tuesday.

Lauren Watson closed out the day in a tie for 75th at +10 while Megan Dennis had an uncharacteristic performance, shooting +14 to sit in a tie for 86th.

The NCAA National Championship resumes Wednesday morning with the playing of the second round. The Panthers are set to tee off beginning at 9:50 a.m. on hole 1.
