Laura Gambino Named Executive Director of Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County

The Board of Directors of the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County (the “Coalition”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Gambino as the organization’s new Executive Director. 

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Board of Directors of the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Gambino as the organization’s new Executive Director.

Her first day of employment with the Coalition will be Tuesday, May 28.

“I am excited and honored to serve the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County,” said Gambino.

“We have outstanding leaders and staff ready and poised to continue serving our community and the children of Brevard County.”

Gambino brings a broad background in economic development and government program management, as well as leadership experience as a board member of the Broward County and Osceola County Early Learning Coalitions.

The Coalition administers several early learning programs including School Readiness and Voluntary Pre-
Kindergarten.

These programs serve over 8,000 children annually with a budget of nearly 30-million- dollars. The organization contracts with child care providers, schools and pre-schools to provide quality childcare including training, monitoring, technical assistance, and professional development.

In addition, the Coalition provides Resource and Referral services for families assisting them in accessing Early Childhood programs and services in the community.

“We are confident that Ms. Gambino’s leadership skills and experience will enable her to excel as the new Executive Director where she will be responsible for managing the administration, finance, and operation of the Coalition with a staff of fifty employees,” said Regina, Interim Executive Director.

The School Readiness program is funded through a combination of state and federal funds to ensure that working families have the financial means to afford quality childcare, which currently averages over $140/week in Brevard County.

VPK is a free educational program focusing on cognitive, language, and social-emotional development to prepare all 4-year-olds for kindergarten.

VPK was established in the State of Florida in 2005. Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County is a United Way of Brevard partner agency and works in collaboration with several other organizations that provide social services to children and families, including the Brevard County School District, Department of Children and Families, Eastern Florida State College, Florida Institute of Technology, Department of Health, and Brevard Family Partnership.

Gambino holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

She has worked to develop and implement strategic planning, communication, and fundraising campaigns by building a statewide network of partners.

Gambino has advocated for inclusive civic involvement to address critical issues by creating solid connections among residents, businesses, and nonprofit and government leaders.
