BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On Monday, it was my honor to speak about the importance of “Community Outreach” during the Florida Sheriff’s Association Commander’s Academy in Tallahassee.

The Commander’s Academy brings together Command Team members from various Sheriff’s Offices throughout the State of Florida for the purpose of enhancing leadership and command techniques.

As the Training Coordinator for the Florida Sheriff’s Association, I shared with the attendees the value of community engagement to help lower the crime rate in their respective communities as well as the various tools that are available today such as social media, community relations and innovative programs that create strong partnerships with their citizens.

I would like to personally thank the Florida Sheriff’s Association for inviting me to speak today and also for all they do to support our agency and mission.

– Sheriff Wayne Ivey
