Cocoa Police Detectives Continue Investigation Friday of Shooting on Clearlake Road

Cocoa detectives are continuing the investigation into a reported shooting that occurred Friday morning in which the Cocoa Police Department SWAT team responded.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa detectives are continuing the investigation into a reported shooting that occurred Friday morning in which the Cocoa Police Department SWAT team responded.

No victims were located.

According to Cocoa Police Public Information OfficerYvonne Martinez, at 9:05 a.m. Friday, patrol officers responded to the area of 1514 Clearlake Road after witnesses reported a shooting in the street in front of the apartment buildings.

“When officers arrived on scene witnesses reported seeing a man shooting at a vehicle with what appeared to be a rifle,” said Martinez.

“The vehicle quickly fled the area and according to witnesses, the armed man went back inside the apartment.”

Martinez said patrol officers immediately secured the area and called the SWAT team to respond. After obtaining a search warrant to enter the apartment, SWAT officers were able to clear the residence and a subsequent search for evidence was conducted.

The investigation is active and ongoing and anyone with information should contact the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous and can be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000 in this case.
