Edward Levesque, 53, of Cocoa, was killed Thursday night in a traffic crash on U.S. Highway 1 and Silver Hill Lane in Cocoa. The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the fatal crash just after 9 p.m.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Edward Levesque, 53, of Cocoa, was killed Thursday night in a traffic crash on U.S. Highway 1 and Silver Hill Lane in Cocoa.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the fatal crash just after 9 p.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Lt. Kim Montes, Levesque was operating a battery powered scooter westbound on Silver Hill Lane, and as he approached the intersection U.S. 1, Anna Spangler, 55, of Titusville was traveling northbound on U.S. 1 in a 2015 Nissan, approaching the intersection of Silver Hill Lane, in the inside travel lane.

At the same time, Nicole Jones of Cocoa was traveling in a 2016 Toyota van northbound on U.S. 1 approaching the intersection of Silver Hill Lane, in the outside travel lane.

Lt. Montes said that Levesque began traveling northwest into the northbound travel lanes, and the front of the moped struck the front, right of the Nissan driven by Spangler.

Levesque was ejected from his moped and was then hit by the van, in the outside travel lane and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The northbound lanes on U.S. 1 were closed briefly as officials worked the crash scene.

This crash remains under investigation.
