“After early nail-biting innings, the team started to roll to their victory and never looked back,” said team supporters on Facebook.

“VSLL couldn’t be prouder of your play, determination and sportsmanship!”

The game remained deadlocked at 0-0 until the fourth inning due to a good pitcher’s duel between North Spring’s C.J. Mazzilli and Viera Suntree’s Campbell.

In the top of the fourth, consecutive singles by Jonathan Gomez and Anthony Perez gave North Springs two runners with no outs.  David Elias later added another base hit to load the bases with one out, but Viera’s Luke Campbell would shut down the rally by striking out the next two batters.

In the bottom of the inning, Campbell drew a leadoff walk, followed by singles from Lucas Glenndining and Luke Iten to load the bases with nobody out.  Logan Keith would drive in the first runs of the game with a 2-RBI double.

Later in the inning, Cameron Simpkins would add to the lead by driving in two runs of his own with a single to make the lead 4-0.

Viera would increase their lead to 5-0 in the fifth inning when Glenndining drove in Apollos Horrell on a single.  Campbell would go on to preserve the shutout by retiring six of the last seven North Springs batters.

Campbell threw the complete game shutout for Viera Suntree, giving up only three hits and striking out six.
