The Running Zone Foundation and Space Coast Runners presented the 48th running of the Space Coast Marathon and Half-Marathon – Florida’s oldest marathon on Sunday that included more than 6,500 participants.

The event was co-hosted by the Running Zone Foundation and Space Coast Runners and is Florida’s oldest marathon. Participants this year hail from about 50 different countries.

This Boston Marathon-qualifying event is part of both the Space Coast Runners Runner of the Year Series and the Running Zone Race Series.

Kilgore, who had a remarkable high school career at Holy Trinity Episcopal School, is one of the top runners to ever come from the Space Coast and was inducted into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.

“Runners and walkers alike experienced one of the most beautiful USATF certified waterfront courses on the east coast of Florida,” said event organizer Denise Piercy.
