Florida Tech’s Preston Schumacher and Tyler Brown Earn SSC Player of the Week Honors

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After earning two wins in the last week of the 2020 baseball season, Tyler Brown and Preston Schumacher were named Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week.

Brown was the offensive leader in Florida Tech’s two games during a truncated week of NCAA sports.

The Bartow, Florida product opened the week with a 2-for-5 effort at the plate that included a double, two runs scored, and four RBI as the Panthers defeated Malone University 15-0 on Monday.

The next day, Brown extended his hitting streak to five games with a 2-for-2 performance during a 4-3 win over the University of Minnesota – Mankato.

He scored the eventual game-winning run on a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

Schumacher takes Pitcher of the Week honors following eight scoreless innings against Malone University.

The Orlando native allowed just four hits and walked one while striking out seven batters in the 15-0 Florida Tech victory.

Schumacher tossed 95 pitches and allowed no extra-base hits in his first win of the season.
