COVID-19 UPDATE: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Suspends Restaurants From Serving Food, Alcohol on Premises

Gov. Ron DeSantis has banned all Florida restaurants from serving food or alcohol on-premises, but said establishments can stay open to fulfill delivery or take-out orders. The executive order issued Friday also requires the closures of gymnasiums and fitness centers in the state.

(WESH.com) — Gov. Ron DeSantis has banned all Florida restaurants from serving food or alcohol on-premises, but said establishments can stay open to fulfill delivery or take-out orders.

DeSantis issued the executive order on Friday. Earlier in the week the governor had ordered the closure of bars and nightclubs but said restaurants could remain open if they kept capacity at 50 percent.

The executive order issued Friday also requires the closures of gymnasiums and fitness centers in the state.

Restaurants will, however, now be allowed to offer alcohol as part of take-out or delivery orders.

The order lifts a restriction that prohibited restaurants from selling “package sales of alcohol for delivery, take-out or consumption off-premises.”
