Eastern Florida State Men’s Soccer Suspends Upcoming 2020 Season, Coach Oliver Twelvetrees Accepts Colorado Job

Men's Soccer team plans to return for 2021 season

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State Men’s Soccer has suspended the 2020 season this fall after the college announced that head coach Oliver Twelvetrees accepted a job at Colorado State University-Pueblo, along with complications from COVID-19.

The announcement comes as a surprise for one of the most visible and prestigious sports that Eastern Florida has to offer.

“With Oliver Twelvetrees accepting a head coaching position in Colorado at the same time as the COVID-19 pandemic, it made it impossible to do major recruiting and resulted in the suspension of the program for the 2020-21 season,” said Eastern Florida State College in a released statement.

Twelvetrees amassed a head coaching record of 239-63-15 for a 77.8 winning percentage.

Twelvetrees and his staff were named United Soccer Coaches Association Junior College Division I South Region Staff of the Year in 2019.

“I would also like to thank all players, staff and administrators at Eastern Florida State College who have been a part of the program’s success and I wish them all the best in the future,” said Coach Twelvetrees at his introductory press conference for Colorado State University-Pueblo.

Eastern Florida State College plans to have men’s soccer return in 2021 and Associate Vice President of Athletics Jeff Carr will be recruiting players for the 2021 season.

Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer has been to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament four times over the past seven seasons.

Even though men’s soccer will not be played this season, women’s soccer still plans on playing this season at the state-of-the-art Orlando Health Stadium on the EFSC Melbourne campus.

The stadium previously hosted the NJCAA Women’s Division I National Championship Tournament and has had Major League Soccer’s Orlando City Soccer Club train at the beautiful facility in the preseason. It has also hosted the Florida High School Athletic Association state girls and boys semifinals and championships.
