Florida Tech’s Theresa Gadilhe, Svetlana Ristin Receive CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Theresa Gadilhe and Svetlana Ristin of the Florida Tech women’s rowing team have been voted to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.

Gadilhe, a four-year member of the women’s rowing team, received Academic All-District recognition after posting a 3.85 GPA while majoring in Business Administration/Accounting at Florida Tech.

The senior helped Florida Tech earn three consecutive SSC Boat of the Year Awards, win three straight SSC Championships as well as finish top-3 at the NCAA Championships three years in a row, including a national runner-up result in 2019.

The Starnberg, Munich, Germany native was named the Women’s Rowing Athlete of the Year in 2018-19 and received CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors the past two seasons.

Additionally, she is a member of the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society was honored as a Distinguished Student Scholar and an Outstanding Student of the Year for her major.

A three-year member of the women’s rowing team, Ristin was voted to the All-District Team with a 3.60 GPA in Biochemistry. She is a two-time CRCA/Pocock All-America, receiving first-team honors in 2019.

Like Gadilhe, Ristin helped guide the Panthers to three straight SSC Championship victories and SSC Boat of the Year awards and was a part of three consecutive NCAA Championship appearances from 2017-2019.

A product of Zrenjanin, Serbia, Ristin has been named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete and the Florida Tech Women’s Rowing Athlete of the Year during her career.

She won the Outstanding Senior of the Year for the Biological Sciences department and is a part of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Ristin graduated in 2019 with her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and is working on her Master’s in Biotechnology.

Gadilhe and Ristin will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All- America honorees will be announced from June 16-19.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs.
