Melbourne Police Traffic Stop Results in Multiple Charges for Illegal Narcotics and Weapons

Antwon Gray, 34, was charged with possession of Firearms and Ammunition by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed firearm by a convicted felon. In addition to these charges, he was also charged with trafficking, possession with intent to sell, and possession of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin, Amphetamine and MDMA.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police officers arrested Rachel Gilbert, 34, and Antwon Gray, 34, after stopping a vehicle for running a stop sign on May 21.

“Officers Aiani and Officer Goetsch stopped a vehicle for running a stop sign during which both occupants were observed making exaggerated movements and attempting to conceal unknown items,” said Melbourne police spokesperson Christina Brainard in a release.

According to Brainard, officers directed passengers out of the car, but they refused to exit. Both passengers were then detained.

Brainard said that Gray refused to ID himself and fingerprints eventually confirmed his identity.

“Following a search of the vehicle, a large quantity of cash, Heroin, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and two firearms – one stolen from Palm Bay, were located,” said Brainard.

Gilbert was cited for Violation of Stop Sign and Felony Possession of Controlled Substance While Operating Motor Vehicle.

Grey was charged with possession of Firearms and Ammunition by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed firearm by a convicted felon.

In addition to these charges, both subjects were also charged with trafficking, possession with intent to sell, and possession of Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin, Amphetamine and MDMA.

Grey and Gilbert were transported to the Melbourne Police Department where they were booked and turned over to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
