BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – I had the honor of taking part in a press conference on Thursday with Governor Ron DeSantis and other local Brevard Community leaders as we announced that Brevard County will host the 2020 AAU Junior Olympic Games.

The AAU, founded in 1888, is one of the largest, non-profit multi-sport amateur sports organizations in the world. If you are not familiar with the AAU Junior Olympic Games they are recognized as the largest national multi-sport youth event in the United States and have quickly become the premier event of the AAU Sports Program.

Our team is not only excited to be part of the planning and strategy for security at the various event venues but is also proud to help bring such a prestigious and exciting event to our community that will serve to help our local businesses and economy as we all work together to recover from the effects of COVID-19.

Thank you to our Governor, Rusty Buchanan of the AAU, our County Commissioners, our Brevard Public Schools, and Giles Malone and Tom Palermo from Space Coast Daily for making this event happen!

– Sheriff Wayne Ivey
