While every high school grad student looks forward to celebrating their years of accomplishment with a commencement ceremony, this year things are a little different.

It doesn’t mean the celebration can’t be memorable and enjoyable. During this time of social distancing, we still want to make certain our seniors are able to have a special Take Stock in Children graduation occasion.

Brevard Schools Foundation Take Stock In Children will hold a Drive-thru graduation ceremony in the parking lot of the Brevard School Board Building, 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, FL on Thursday, June 11 at 6:30 pm to honor and recognize our graduating TSIC students.

Brevard County School Superintendent Dr. Mark Mullins and BSF President & CEO Janice Kershaw will share opening remarks then the students will begin their car parade with individual recognition, and then stops throughout the parking lot to receive their TSIC graduation medallion, a backpack filled with school supplies to assist them in their next journey to college generously donated by Dr. Kathy Pearce and the Brevard School Foundation Supply Zone for Teachers, and a photo opportunity supplied by Dean Stewart Photography.

Established in Brevard County in 1996 with the Brevard Schools Foundation, Take Stock in Children provides low-income, at-risk students the opportunity to escape the cycle of poverty through education.

Take Stock in Children’s comprehensive services begin in middle school, continue through high school, and even include transitioning to a vocational program or college.

This extensive support and mentoring has resulted in Brevard County’s Take Stock students achieving a 100% high school graduation rate.

As a result of maintaining good grades through high school, remaining drug- and crime-free, and meeting weekly with an assigned mentor, Take Stock in Children students receive a fully-funded scholarship for two years of college or technical training.

Take Stock in Children Graduate Honorees Include:

Sarah Andrade, Dante Ardene, Hailey Badders, Tomas Batista, Alyssa Bonaccorso, Mykaila Burgher, Isabelle Camarena, Carrington Castor, Janelise Cerda, Akilah Davis, Claren Davis, Hayden Dunnell, Alexis Elam, Isaiah Elam, Khalil Ellison, Ashlee Flowers, Evelin Gonzalez, Maya Gowens, Jaden Grant, Jacob Haight, Mia Hammonds, Alexis Harlow, Mysteri Hewitson, Dorian Hill, Jennifer Hill, Malachi Hobbs, James Hubbard, Veronica LaCroix, John Lanza, Jr, Kiara Maestre, Aems Maggard, Diana Marquez, Anitra McFatten, Matthew McGuckian, Kathleen Mehu, Kwamir Mercer-Finkley, Andi Parks, Breyanna Peay, Estrella Perrusquia, Nicholas Peterson, Catherine Pham, Savannah Poirier, Alexis Pridgen, Shay Ray, Kayla Reed, Viola Rezkalla, Andrea Robinson, Zachary Ruprecht, Brooke Stone, Julia Travis, Macey Velliquette, Carter Walker, Joseph Walton, Noah Williams, Savanna Zang and Dharma Zito.

The Take Stock in Children has been in Brevard County for 24 years and this year features 56 Take Stock in Children graduates.

These graduates come from all Brevard County Public High Schools and will receive a 60 credit-hour college scholarship. The total value of the scholarships being awarded will be more than $447,500.

For each student scholarship, the first half of the scholarship was raised locally from Brevard County residents and then the second half is matched dollar for dollar by the Stanley Tate Project STARS Foundation.

The Brevard Schools Foundation currently has 239 Take Stock in Children student scholars and each is paired with a volunteer mentor that meets with the student weekly in their school.

This year, the Brevard Take Stock in Children program was honored to receive three major, state-wide awards:
