Eastern Florida State College Selected to Host NCAA Division I Cancun Basketball Challenge in November

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College has been selected to host the 2020 Cancun Basketball Challenge in November.

The tournament is moving due to the COVID-19 virus and both the men and women’s tournaments will be held at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The men’s basketball tournament is scheduled to begin Nov. 24 with four games on both the 24th and 25th of November.

Clemson, Mississippi State, Purdue, Illinois State, Bucknell, Eastern Tennessee State University, Central Michigan and Rider are expected to participate in the tournament.

Four of the eight games will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

The women’s tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 26 and run through Nov. 28 with all 11 games scheduled to be streamed on FloSports.

Competing in the women’s tournament are the University of Tennessee, Florida State, Purdue, Iowa, Southern Cal, Toledo, Houston, VCU and Northeastern.

“We are very excited to host this event, some of the best basketball programs in the country will be at this tournament and we are thrilled that we were chosen to have this event in our great facility,” said Associate Vice President of Athletics Jeff Carr.

More information about the tournament will be released later this fall as the schedule could change due to COVID-19.
