Titusville Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Caregiver, Charges Include Felony Exploitation of an Elderly Person

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A woman employed at a local assisted living facility providing care for elderly residents was arrested after Titusville Police responded to a July 9 theft report, which connected the suspect’s involvement with several criminal fraudulent incidents.

According to Titusville police spokesperson Amy Matthews, Haley Marie Comet Edwards, 20, of Titusville, was charged with Felony Exploitation of an Elderly Person, three Felony Counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and seven Felony Counts of Criminal Use of Identification

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, a certified nursing assistant employed at Titusville Towers Assisted Living, located at 405 Indian River Avenue, obtained a resident’s stolen bank debit card and made several unauthorized transactions,” said Matthews.

Edwards was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday afternoon at her place of employment and subsequently booked into the Brevard County Jail.

This incident remains an active ongoing investigation by Titusville Police Detectives and additional charges are pending.
