BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — Angel Vazquez-Cotto, 28, was arrested Saturday on charges of aggravated stalking of a child.

According to Yvonne Martinez, Cocoa Police Public Information Officer, his victim was a 12-year-old girl.

“On Friday, officers responded to assist Brevard County regarding a man who reported being pepper-sprayed by another whom he believed was stalking his daughter,” said Martinez.

“The investigation revealed the suspect had been taking photographs of the girl and was repeatedly outside her home attempting to have conversations and develop a relationship.”

Martinez said the girl told police she feared the man and that he had been stalking and harassing her for several months. Further investigation revealed social media posts in which the male made references to sexual activity with the child.

“Officers were able to confirm the identity of the suspect,” said Martinez.

“The victim and her father were able to confirm he was the same individual outside their home.”

Vazquez-Cotto is in the Brevard County Jail without bond.

The suspect was interviewed and subsequently arrested for aggravated stalking, a third-degree felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison if convicted.
