BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Cultural Alliance announced that Brevard County Commissioners have joined in the national celebration by proclaiming September 13-19 as Arts in Education Week in Brevard.

Designated by Congress in 2010, the resolution recognizes the transformative power of the Arts for all students and serves as a reminder of its role in the public K-12 educational landscape.

“Today, the skills, values, and behaviors promoted by arts education are more paramount than ever,” said Interim Director of BCA Kathy Engerran.

“Creativity builds the resilience we need in challenging times. Nurtured from the earliest ages, the arts unlock innovation, awaken curiosity, cultivate freedom of expression, and develop an appreciation for the richness of human talent, diversity, and inclusion. Education is where this begins and it is critical that the arts remain a core academic subject in our nation’s schools.”

For more than 25 years, Brevard Cultural Alliance has remained committed to serving the Brevard community by advancing arts education programming such as Next Generation Artist Residencies and art for At-Risk Youth.

Those wishing to support BCA’s efforts to bring the skills and hands-on experiences of comprehensive arts education programs to students in Brevard are encouraged to visit  Artsbrevard.org/donate
