Brevard Sheriff’s Agent Busts Serial Sex Predator, Convicted of Attempting to Entice a Minor for Sex

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Tonight I am very pleased to share with our community that 48-year-old, Vincent Lasane, of Orlando, was found guilty in Federal Court on Friday, September 11, 2020, on the charges of attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity and committing the offense while required to register as a sex offender under Florida law.
The investigation began when Lasane met an Agent of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office SORT Unit who was acting in an undercover capacity as a 14-year-old girl on a social networking website.
Lasane enticed and persuaded the girl to engage in sexual activity, communicating with her through text messages and telephone calls.
In late October 2019, Lasane arranged to meet the girl at a restaurant in Orlando and assured the girl that he would wear a condom so that she would not get pregnant.
After attending his court-ordered sexual offender treatment meeting, Lasane traveled to the location to meet the child.
When Lasane arrived, law enforcement officers arrested him finding a condom and the cellular telephone Lasane had used to communicate with the fictitious child in his pocket.
Lasane’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 30, 2020, as he faces a maximum penalty of Life in Federal Prison.
Lasane was previously convicted of attempted sexual battery on a child under the age of 12 in 2007 and as part of his original sentence, the court designated Lasane a sexual predator and ordered him to register as a sex offender in the State of Florida for life.
This investigation was a cooperative effort by Agents from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and Immigration Customs Enforcement/Homeland Security Investigations.
It was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office all of whom worked closely together to take this predator of children off our streets.
