BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Marjorie Holmes Rock, a daughter, wife and awesome mother was called home on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020. She has been reunited with her loving husband Richard; they were married for 63 years.

Born in Jacksonville Florida on October 27th, 1932 to Barbara Crews and George Holmes, she was just 6 weeks shy of her 88th birthday.

She was president of her senior class and went on to have a long career in the mortgage and banking sectors. During high school she worked part-time at a Walgreen’s lunch counter in Jacksonville where she met her future husband Richard. It was love at first sight when he saw her through the window.

Richard got a weekend pass from the Army during the Korean conflict and they were married at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Her passions were first and foremost her family and friends, dancing with Richard, cruising, traveling (she lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for years) and helping others.

She loved throwing parties and treasured building lasting friendships. She was a social butterfly, strong, independent and yet a true southern lady.

Through her actions, she taught her children how to advocate for those that needed help or did not have a voice. A deeply religious woman, she was a foot soldier in God’s Kingdom too help others.

Marjorie is survived by her son Alan, daughter Tammie Rock, daughter-in-law Melissa Rock, niece Vickie Friend, nephew Michael and his wife Teresa Friend.

A mass and celebration of her life will be held at Divine Mercy Church, 1940 N. Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, at 11 am on Saturday, October 3.
