Authorities identify Shannon Burgess, 36, as victim who died in home fire

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Authorities have identified 36-year-old Shannon L. Burgess as the victim who died in a residential fire on Sunday.

The Rockledge Fire Department, with assistance from Brevard County Fire Rescue and the Cocoa Fire Department, responded to the deadly residential fire on Avondale Road Sunday night at about 6 p.m.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire appears to be electrical and the windows were boarded up, which complicated the extraction of the two people inside the burning home.

This incident is under investigation.
