BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – After careful deliberation, and in consultation with the Brevard Department of Health, Brevard Public Schools officials have made the decision to quarantine the Melbourne High School football team as a result of a positive COVID-19 test.

“The DOH has notified all staff and families of student-athletes who were in close contact with the individual who confirmed positive and has requested they quarantine for 14 days,” said Brevard Public Schools Chief Strategic Communications Officer Russell Bruhn in a release.

The team will forfeit their next two scheduled games on October 9 versus Cocoa High and October 16 versus Viera High.

Currently, the Bulldogs, who are 0-2 after losses to Eau Gallie and Rockledge, are scheduled to resume play on October 23 at Bayside.

Areas where the football team congregated, will undergo deep cleaning and sanitizing and during the quarantine period, students will continue with their classes via e-learning.
