BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Congratulations to Melbourne Police Officer Michael Sampieri for receiving the award for “Officer of the Month” for August 2020.

Officer Sampieri was dispatched to a residential fire in August at 1701 Bryan Street and saved an elderly man’s life.

Officer Sampieri arrived on the scene of a residential fire well ahead of other units and found thick black smoke and visible flames inside the house.

He quickly assessed the scene and determined that the resident had likely not made it out of the home.

Officer Sampieri entered the house, located a disoriented elderly male, and then quickly escorted the man from the home to safety.

The resident was treated for smoke inhalation but escaped serious injury or death largely due to the quick thinking and heroic actions of Officer Sampieri.

His actions reflect great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Melbourne Police Department.
