Merritt Island High Football Confirms One Positive COVID-19 Case, Space Coast Game Postponed

After careful deliberation, and in consultation with the Brevard Department of Health, Brevard Public Schools officials have made the decision to cancel the Merritt Island High School JV and Varsity football games this week as a result of a player testing positive COVID-19 test. (SCD image)

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – After careful deliberation, and in consultation with the Brevard Department of Health, Brevard Public Schools officials have made the decision to cancel the Merritt Island High School JV and Varsity football games this week as a result of a player testing positive COVID-19 test, according to Dr. Andrew Ramjit, Assistant Direct of Student Activities for Brevard Public Schools.

The Mustangs Varsity football team was scheduled to face the Space Coast Vipers.

Currently, the Merritt Island Mustangs are 2-0 after wins against Titusville and Holy Trinity.

The Mustang JV squad was scheduled to play the Rockledge Raiders at Merritt Island.

Areas where the football team congregated, will undergo deep cleaning and sanitizing and during the quarantine period, students will continue with their classes.
