BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – This past week, we celebrated the retirement of Sergeant Chris Livasy. Sgt. Livasy retires after serving nearly 29 years of dedicated and valued service to the City of Palm Bay. Sgt. Livasy was hired and sworn in as a police officer in January of 1991.

During his tenure, he served as an undercover agent working in the Special Investigations Unit before returning to patrol. Shortly thereafter, Sgt. Livasy was promoted to the rank of corporal.

After excelling in that role, and as part of a growing city, Sgt. Livasy was promoted to sergeant in 2006. Sgt. Livasy held the position of a patrol sergeant for seven years until he was selected to supervise the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU).

During Livasy’s time in SVU, Sgt. Livasy ensured high profile cases against children and vulnerable adults were investigated to the fullest extent. Sgt. Livasy’s leadership in SVU led to multiple arrests of violent criminals which made an impact on ensuring safety within the city.

During this time, Sgt. Livasy was also responsible for the reporting and tracking of all sex offenders residing within the City of Palm Bay. Sgt. Livasy transferred back to uniform services in 2015 where he remained a patrol supervisor in the Northeast section of the city.

“Please join us in wishing Sgt. Livasy all the best in his next chapter and thank him for his many years of service to the Palm Bay community. Congrats Chris,” – Palm Bay Police Department.
