Two Teens Shot in Melbourne After Fight Breaks Out Near Wawa Parking Lot, Victims Expected to Fully Recover

Melbourne Police responded to a report of shots fired at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, October 11, on the block of South Harbor City Boulevard and East Strawbridge Avenue.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police responded to a report of shots fired at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, October 11, on the block of South Harbor City Blvd. and East Strawbridge Ave.

The two shooting victims have been identified as 19-year-old Robert Lee Ashley and a 17-year-old female, both of whom are expected to fully recover.

The investigation has revealed that prior to police arriving at the scene, one group was gathered in the parking lot of Wawa while a second group gathered in the parking garage of One Harbor Place.

Individuals from each group engaged in a verbal altercation, which escalated into several people engaging into a physical fight, according to police.

“Someone involved in the fight brandished a firearm and began shooting at members of the opposing group,” said Commander Marc Claycomb of the Melbourne Police Department.

“Investigators continue to follow up leads and review surveillance video in an attempt to identify the suspect.”
