Paul Alfrey Sworn in as Melbourne Mayor, Councilman Member Tim Thomas Will Serve as Vice Mayor

Alfrey will serve on Airport Authority Board

The City of Melbourne’s new Mayor Paul Alfrey and new City Council Member Mimi Hanley were sworn into office during last night’s Council meeting last night.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Paul Alfrey was sworn in as mayor and Mimi Hanley as District 5 council member during a Melbourne City Council meeting this week.

Reelected Council Members Yvonne Minus and Tim Thomas also took the oath of office to begin their second terms.

They join council members Mark LaRusso, Julie Sanders and Debbie Thomas.

Outgoing Mayor Kathy Meehan was thanked and recognized for her 16 years of City Council service, which included eight years of service as mayor of the City of Melbourne.

The Melbourne City Council appointed Tim Thomas to serve as vice mayor.

The Council appointed Council Member Tim Thomas to serve as Vice-Mayor for 2020-2021.

­­­­­­­Mayor Alfrey was appointed to serve on the Airport Authority Board and Council Member Hanley was appointed to serve as a regular member to the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization.

Sanders will serve as a voting delegate and Debbie Thomas will act as an alternate voting delegate to the Space Coast League of Cities for 2020.
