Brevard County Fire Rescue Extinguishes Structure Fire on S. Banana River Drive in Merritt Island

NO INJURIES REPORTED; CAUSE UNKNOWN

MERRITT ISLAND • BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Brevard County Fire Rescue units are still on scene of a structure fire in the 1500 block of South Banana River Drive in Merritt Island.

The fire has been extinguished, however, there is extensive overhaul as crews find hidden pockets of smoldering in void spaces.

There were two occupants home at the time; one being rescued via ladder from a second floor balcony, but no injuries to either.

The cause is under investigation.
