BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – On Saturday, December 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Florida East Coast Real Estate will host its second Annual Home For The Holidays Adoption Fair & Food Truck Rally on their parking lot, located at 423 West Merritt Island Causeway in Merritt Island, at the corner of State Road 520 and South Tropical Trail.

For the second consecutive year, the real estate brokerage has engaged in a collaborative effort collecting donations for Toys for Tots as well as partnering with the SPCA and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to help find homes for shelter dogs and cats.

The impacts of the pandemic in 2020 have been significant on everyone, especially local families.

Toys for Tots in Brevard County reported that typically they have about 600 families register for their non-profit program, while in 2020 the number of families registered exceeded 1,000.

Recognizing this need, Florida East Coast Real Estate began a campaign in October of this year for toy donations and collected more than 400 toys at their Merritt Island location.

The community really responded with a variety of toys including toys as large as bicycles.

“We collected so many toys that Toys for Tots had to make three trips to our office to pick up. The generosity of people was really heart-warming,” said Jon Scott Santy, Broker Associate.

The SPCA of Brevard County and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department Animal Services Unit both bring adoptable dogs and cats for the public to meet one-on-one.

This year there will be four food trucks, vendors, pet photos with Santa, and the special guest is Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

Santy said this will be an outside event and social distancing will be encouraged.

“We’re really proud that our real estate agents take such an active role in helping in their local communities, and these holiday events really make a difference for several organizations,” said Lynnette Hendricks, Broker/Owner of Florida East Coast Real Estate.

“It’s important to us that we give back to the communities we serve, and we feel like we can make a difference beyond helping people buy and sell homes.”
