Longtime Palm Bay Employee Sandy Virgin Retires After 38 Years of Service to City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay PD

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – After 38 years of service with the City of Palm Bay, Palm Bay Police Department’s Budget Officer Sandy Virgin is retiring.

Sandy began her career with the Palm Bay Police Department in 1982. Sandy was originally hired as a secretary and shortly after accepted a position at city hall working as a payroll clerk. She later obtained the position of paymaster.

In 1998, Sandy moved back to the police department as a program specialist/budget officer in our Executive Division. During her time with the police department, Sandy has been instrumental with our budget process.

She has been responsible for the preparation, management, and accountability of the police department’s budget and financial activity. Sandy has also helped attain several grants for personnel and equipment that has helped our agency grow and adapt with new and innovative ways of policing.

Sandy also co-coordinated the Police Department’s Annual Reindeer Run; a yearly program that assists approximately 100 needy children at Christmas time by taking them on a shopping trip to Walmart. Sandy was detail oriented and worked diligently to ensure the budget process was always in check.
