Eastern Florida State Baseball Team Falls in Home Opener Against Lake Sumter College

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost to Lake Sumter State College in the home opener Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field.

Down 10-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Titans offense came to life. Nathan Housen hit a two-run double and then Kaeber Rog blasted a three-run home run to cut the lead to 10-5.

Lake Sumter State College would add three runs in the top of the seventh inning but the Titans swung back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

The eighth inning saw Lake Sumter score twice to take a 15-7 lead.

The Titans scored four times in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the lead once again, 15-11.

After Lake Fisher held Lake Sumter in check in the ninth, the Titans had one last chance. Eastern Florida State College would score once and had the bases loaded, but could not find the big hit to tie the game.

Garrett Evans went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Housen, KC Swords, Kevin Espiritusanto, Rog and RJ Diaz all had two hits in the game.

The Titans (0-2) will play Polk State College on Tuesday evening. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, fans will not be allowed at Bruce Bochy Field.
