17-Year-Old Shot Multiple Times During Incident Monday Evening on Vanderbilt Lane in Cocoa

Cocoa police detectives are investigating the Monday evening shooting of a 17-year-old male in the 1200 block of Vanderbilt Lane. Patrol officers responded to the incident where the found the victim with at least two gunshot wounds. 

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa police detectives are investigating the Monday evening shooting of a 17-year-old male in the 1200 block of Vanderbilt Lane.

According to Cocoa Police Public Information Officer Yvonne Martinez, the shooting happened at about 7:30 p.m.

Cocoa police patrol officers responded to the incident where they found the victim with at least two gunshot wounds.

“Detectives are in the process of interviewing witnesses and gathering physical evidence in an attempt to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting,” said Martinez.

“The shooting is believed to be an isolated incident and is not a random act.”

The victim, who has not yet been identified, is being treated at the hospital and is expected to recover, according to Martinez.
