BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue Brush 663 crew responded to a fire Thursday afternoon on the second floor of the Budget Inn in Cocoa near 520.

Brevard County Fire Rescue officials said Brush 663 was en route to pick up another brush truck from BCFR fleet services, and while sitting at the light on 520 near Sams Club, they saw smoke coming from the second-floor balcony of the Budget Inn.

“The quick-thinking firefighters quickly donned the gear and pulled a hose line to start extinguishing the fire and called it into our communications center,” said BCFR officials.

“Brevard County Fire Rescue Engine 44 along with Cocoa Fire Rescue arrived and completed overhauling after the initial crew was able to extinguish the fire. Thanks to the quick thinking of Firefighter Luis Delgado and FM A-A Ron Arrowood damage was kept to a minimum.”
