BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – For the first time in over a decade, the Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team has qualified for the FCSAA State Tournament.

The Titans are 6-9 on the season heading into the final regular-season game tonight and will be the No. 8 seed in the state tournament, which begins March 25 at the Florida State College at Jacksonville.

“We started off the season with one goal on our mind … make the state tournament,” Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball coach Carmelo Eleutiza said.

“It is an excellent feeling that we were able to accomplish that goal. We have had many ups and downs in the journey however when needed, our athletes really stepped up and won against some tough programs in crucial situations.”

The Titans will face No. 1 seed Miami Dade in the first round of the double-elimination tournament. The Titans, who are 0-3 against Miami Dade this season, will play the Sharks at 10 a.m. Thursday.

“As satisfied and excited as we are, we continue to want more. We want to excel at the tournament this season and become a program that is in the state tournament every season,” Eleutiza said. “I am proud of my athletes and look forward to more success for our athletes and program!”
