Cheyenne Nelson earned second SSC player of the week honors of her career

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After a truly memorable opening week, the Sunshine State Conference honored Cheyenne Nelson with player of the week presented by Jimmy Johns.

This is the junior’s first player of the week of the season and second all-time.

Nelson put together nearly a perfect week as she went 10-15 with seven runs, 10 RBI, one double, one home run, one walk, and four stolen bases. This gave her an impressive .667/.688/.933 slash line and 1.621 ops.

Defensively she was perfect as she had four putouts and no errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage.

The Snohomish, Washington native opened both her season and the Panthers with a bang as she hit a home run in the team’s first at-bat of the year.

She continued her dominance in the contest as she went 4-5 with three runs, six RBI, one double, and a stolen base.

Nelson later in the week had a perfect outing as she went 3-3 with one run, two RBI, one walk, and a defensive putout.

Cheyenne and the rest of the softball team take Nancy Bottge field for their next matchup against Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, March 10. The first pitch of the doubleheader takes place at 3:00 pm ET.
