ORLANDO, FLORIDA – UCF Knights completed their first spring football practice on Monday under new head coach Gus Malzahn.

Malzahn mentioned he loves the spirit of this team on day 1.

“It was real exciting and I love the spirit of this team. That’s what I told them after practice today. We’ve got some potential and I’m looking forward to working with this group,” said Malzahn in a press conference following practice.

Quarterback Dillon Gabriel also took questions from the media on Monday and talked about his new head coach.

“I got a lot of respect for (coach) after having numerous conversations with him and he’s someone I look up to as a role model for how he just handles himself and the way he speaks to others.”

Gabriel also compared Malzahn’s practice from last year’s coaching staff as more organized than before.

“Just how organized it is. But I’m focused on the present. The past has happened. The future of college football is here.”
