Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released the following statement regarding Leader McCarthy’s resolution to censure Representative Maxine Waters for her comments over the weekend.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released the following statement regarding Leader McCarthy’s resolution to censure Representative Maxine Waters for her comments over the weekend.

“I am deeply disappointed with comments that Rep. Maxine Waters and other politicians have made regarding the trial in Minneapolis. That is a matter to be decided by the jurors who were in the room listening to all of the testimony,” said Rep. Posey.

“Politicians, even if they followed some news reports, are in no position to render judgement. They should refrain from comments on the case and they should not encourage violence should a judgement not be in alignment with their opinion. I supported Leader McCarthy’s reasonable censure resolution as elected leaders and other public figures must not use their positions to pressure the jury to gain a desired outcome.”
