BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA –  In the lead up to Brevard County’s biggest charity fundraiser of the year, the 2021 ‘Dancing for the Space Coast’ dancers are practicing their dance routines with only a few weeks to go until the event on Saturday, June 5, at the old Stein Mart department store in Melbourne.

One of the competitors in this year’s event is Brevard County Commissioner Kristine Zonka.

Commissioner Kristine Zonka was elected to the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners in November 2016. She represents District Five, which includes areas of Melbourne, West Melbourne, Palm Bay, Indialantic and Melbourne Village.

Originally from Michigan, Zonka moved to Palm Bay in 1999. In 2007, Zonka was elected to the Palm Bay City Council, where she served the citizens for seven years. During her tenure, Zonka was a strong advocate for roads, infrastructure, public safety, and veterans’ issues while promoting less taxation, limited government intrusion, and fiscal transparency.

Zonka holds Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Nurse Practice. She is a certified family nurse practitioner and works part-time for Health First Medical Group.

Zonka enjoys spending time with her husband, Milo, and their children.  She also likes serving the community through various organizations that assist seniors, the homeless, and the underserved.

This year’s event will benefit the following local charities Eternal Flame, Family Promise of Brevard, Women’s Center of Brevard, Habitat for Humanity of Brevard and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Charity.

“Please join me for Dancing for the Space Coast and find out what local celebrity has the right moves to rule as Grand Champion of the dance floor,” said Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

“It’s an amazing evening to share in great food, laughter, friends, and incredible dancing while raising money for deserving Brevard County charitable organizations.
