BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Viera Company, the master developer for the community of Viera, announced the much-anticipated opening of the Lake Andrew Drive and Pineda Causeway extension road project.

The completion of this project in Viera adds yet another connection to I-95 and points beyond such as Patrick Space Force Base and Brevard County beaches.

This fourth point of ingress and egress for I-95 is the final and southernmost interstate interchange for Viera.

“The opening of the Lake Andrew Drive and Pineda Causeway extension improvements facilitate a new key gateway into the next phase of Viera which extends to the southern boundary of our property,” said Todd J. Pokrywa, President of The Viera Company.

“When coupled with the recent opening of the Viera Boulevard/I-95 Interchange, it doubles the points of ingress and egress to Viera west of I-95 improving options and traffic flow for residents, employees working in businesses throughout the community, and visitors.”

The entire $15.3 million project includes 6,650 linear feet of new roadway for Lake Andrew Drive, 4,500 linear feet of Pineda Causeway extension improvements and two new roadways adjacent to the recently announced Costco project, Cobalt Street and Akarad Drive.

The project also includes a traffic signal at the Lake Andrew and Pineda Causeway intersection as well as a multi-use, non-vehicular tunnel under Pineda Causeway to connect both the north and south sides of Pineda Causeway for pedestrians, bicyclists, and golf carts.

In preparation for the opening of the roadway, the traffic signal started operating in “flashing mode” on April 28th and continued for one week in advance of today’s opening of the entire project.

“We have been receiving many inquiries on the status of the project over the last few weeks,” said Eva M. Rey, Director of Community Management, Amenities, and Communications for The Viera Company.

“The community at large is very excited for this additional interstate access point, not to mention what it means for the economic impact to the area.”

“We have been receiving many inquiries on the status of the project over the last few weeks,” said Eva M. Rey, Director of Community Management, Amenities, and Communications for The Viera Company.

Pokrywa said the southward extension of Lake Andrew Drive and connection to the I-95/Pineda Interchange is a very significant regional infrastructure investment that allows The Viera Company to be responsive to residential and commercial demand in the center of the Space Coast market.

“These improvements represent a noteworthy milestone for Viera as they position over 3,000 acres of the area west of I-95 within the Viera master-planned community for a future mixed-use development near the Interchange and residential neighborhoods to the west, which are already in varying stages of planning, design, permitting and development,” said Pokrywa.
