BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Kori Hurst, principal at Saturn Elementary School and former principal at Riviera Elementary School, was recognized recently at Riviera Elementary as a recipient of the Florida TaxWatch Principal Leadership Award.

The Florida TaxWatch Principal Leadership Program has served as the state’s only student performance data-driven recognition initiative for the past six years.

Hurst is one of only three elementary school principals recognized to receive this award, which is based on three years of student performance data and student growth academically.

Through this program, Hurst was given the opportunity to select one Riviera student to receive a two-year Florida Prepaid College Scholarship based on high levels of academic achievement and who is active in their school and community.

Sara Dewitt, a 5th-grade student, was also honored by receiving the scholarship from Ms. Hurst and Florida TaxWatch, as well as being recognized for her hard work in and out of school.
