Titusville Police have released the identity of the victim shot dead on Monday during an armed home invasion as 34-year-old Curtis Murray Jr. from Titusville.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police have released the identity of the victim shot dead on Monday during an armed home invasion as 34-year-old Curtis Murray Jr. from Titusville.

Police say the investigation began on Monday around 6:30 p.m., when officers responded to a report of shots fired at a home located on the 500 block of Rock Pit Road in Titusville.

As officers secured the crime scene, they located Curtis Murray Jr. in the residence with an apparent gunshot wound.

The preliminary investigation revealed the suspects, described as two unknown black males wearing hoodies, entered the residence and held the victim and a juvenile at gun point in an effort to steal their belongings.

Police say evidence indicates the victim was shot during a physical altercation with the suspects.

The suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident and remain at large.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries around 1 a.m.

The juvenile was not injured.

Detectives are working all leads, and the initial evidence indicates the victims were specifically targeted by the suspects, and this was not a random act of violence.
