Florida Tech’s Women’s Softball Star Cheyenne Nelson Earns Second CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech junior star, Cheyenne Nelson, snagged another postseason honor as she was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District team for the second team in her collegiate career.

This marks her fifth individual honor and her second academic distinction in 2021.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Academic All-District honorees are now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America award, which will be announced in late July.

The Aerospace Engineering major has been a force both in aspects of being a student-athlete as she currently holds a 3.87 GPA and the title of Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year.

A leader on the field, Nelson put together a career year as she recorded an SSC-best batting average of .418 and hits at 41.

The Washington native also tallied five doubles, one triple and a home run for a total of 51 total bases along with 15 runs, 13 RBI, five walks and nine steals, which put her final slash line at .418/.438/.520.
