OBITUARY: Bob C. Haggard, 85, of Titusville, Passed Away July 6

Bob was born on a farm west of Putnam, Oklahoma on April Fool’s Day 1936 to Clifford Haggard and Bertha (Palmer) Haggard and passed away on July 6, 2021.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Bob was born on a farm west of Putnam, Oklahoma on April Fool’s Day 1936 to Clifford Haggard and Bertha (Palmer) Haggard and passed away on July 6, 2021.

He graduated from Putnam High School, took pre-engineering at Southwestern State College, and obtained a BS degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an MS degree in Research from St. Louis University.

He married Maurita Voncel (Kaltwasser) Haggard in 1957. After graduation from OU in 1958, he went to work for McDonnell Aircraft company (merged later with Boeing) and spent 41 years in design and development of anti-tank missiles, Smart bomb guidance, and fighter aircraft for the Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force.

He was proud to help give our fighting men and women new weapons to reduce their casualties and improve winning to keep the United States free. He was in the Oklahoma National Guard, 45th Division, Artillery while in college.

He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of about 12, attended both Methodist and Baptist churches where he served as a deacon in two churches, and lead a recording and tape distribution ministry for several years as part of a Pastor’s retreat ministry.

Bob loved to hunt quail and fish when younger with his dad and his uncle, Ben Williams. Ben arranged for him to buy an English Setter bird dog puppy for $5 when he was about 13 years old.

He trained and hunted with “Old Speck” for many years. He was surrounded by a loving extended family of grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins when growing up.

He was extremely proud of his three daughters: Karen Johnson, Anne Nowlin (Bill), Jennifer Zosel (Bill) and his 11 grandchildren: Richard Johnson (Missy), Parker Johnson (Beth), Andrew Johnson (Ally), Chad Johnson (Kimberly), Zachary Zosel, Alexis Zosel, Justin Zosel, Landon Zosel, William Nowlin, Charlie Nowlin, and Abigail Nowlin as well as his great-grandchildren: Kody Johnson, Kylie Johnson, Joelle Johnson, Jace Johnson, Hannah Johnson, and Peyton Johnson. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren listed above, Bob is survived by two sisters, Billie Jones and Eileen (N.C.) Moseley as well and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
