Brevard Public Schools Extend Meal Waiver, Allows Free Breakfast, Lunch for Upcoming School Year

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools announced the United States Department of Agriculture has issued a meal flexibility waiver to allow school food authorities to operate the Summer Seamless Option for the 2021-22 school year.

The purpose of this waiver is to provide safe and efficient meal service during the 2021-22 school year and to alleviate food insecurity for families.

This flexibility allows schools that qualify to offer meals at no charge to all enrolled students.

Effective August 10, 2021, through May 26, 2022, the following schools will offer both breakfast and lunch meals at no charge to all students:

Although meals are available at no charge, it is important that Brevard Public School (BPS) families interested in meal benefits for their children apply for Free and Reduced-price meals for the 2021-22 school year.

Students who are approved for free and reduced-price meal benefits may be eligible for Pandemic-EBT benefits, discounts on SAT/ACT testing, summer enrichment programs, and discounts on technology or internet services.
