BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As Hurricane Ida pounds Louisiana, National Hurricane Center is continuing to track multiple disturbances across the Atlantic as hurricane season enters peak season.

The newest disturbance to enter the picture on Sunday is a tropical wave (red x) that is expected to emerge off the west coast of Africa by Monday night.

Environmental conditions appear conducive for the development of a low pressure area once the wave moves offshore.

A tropical depression is likely to form by the middle or latter part of the week while the system moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph over the eastern tropical Atlantic.

National Hurricane Center is forecasting an 80-percent chance of further development over the next five days.
